If you would like to make a superb looking backdrop for a rich, lavish environment then a red carpet backdrop could look fantastic. Weather your production is a party set in a rich mansion, a play on the Royal Family or celebrities, a red carpet will really show your background off.
colors are pretty self explanatory. A red carpet is always red. Red suggests royalty and wealth. Since the sort of play immediately has effects on where your red carpet will be situated below are some bullet points to see if you must have a red carpet in your background. I have done these because I have seen red carpet backdrops used before when they actually should not have been. If you reply yes to any of the questions below then use a red carpet backdrop, if not then think scrupulously and be sure that you actually need it.
do you want your characters to appear rich or in some other loads more privileged than others.
Is your production set somewhere where you could easily have a red carpet? As an example is your play set in a mansion, where you might have the red carpet going up the stairs, or leading direct from the front door.
Does your play include stars, or folks of high significance.
Remember to consider the length of your carpet. Will it be just a short distance on your background, or will it stretch right across both sides. Do you want to have it occupying almost all of the backdrop or only a small part? Another large thing you want to think about is what else you will have in the backdrop. Are you having just the red carpet or other decorations?
Think about whether you would like tables either side of the carpet, or maybe folks standing either side. If you're including stars you may need to paint photographers on to give it that true feeling. Or perhaps if your red carpet backdrop is for someone who isn't a celeb think carefully about what would be around them. You do not need to finish up having a red carpet surrounded by photographers if the person to walk down it's not famous and unknown.
ultimately you will desire to consider what colors you will use for everything else but the red carpet. I have seen productions where they have used red walls and furniture so it totally hid the red carpet and made it pointless. Try and use colors that don't really stand out that much to emphasize the red carpet backdrop as much as possible. Grays and whites are good, and will help to bring out the red carpet. Also if you're having folk in the background make sure they don't block out all of the red carpet if they are standing there lining it, as that would ruin the affect.
As you can see there's a lot to take in, so just take your time and make sure you don't overcrowd the final image and ensure you get the colours right. To understand mor click here now.
